Accredited anemometer calibrations

Wind measurements with cup anemometers and wind vanes or with ultrasonic anemometers are the state of the art for the wind energy industry, the metrology and for environmental monitoring technologies. Every single sensor has to be calibrated individually in the wind tunnel to ensure the highest quality. This was the motivation for the founding of Ammonit Wind Tunnel GmbH (AWT) as well as for the construction of an own wind tunnel.

Anemometer calibrations

The wind tunnel was designed and built for the calibration of flow velocity and direction sensors. With a nozzle cross-section of 1.2 m x 1.2 m, the calibration of all current sensors on the market is possible. For the flow direction calibration and for the calibration of the inclination dependence of the sensors, a fully automatic turning and tilting device is available.

The Ammonit Wind Tunnel GmbH

The Ammonit Wind Tunnel GmbH (AWT) is accredited by the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) as an independent calibration laboratory for gas flow velocities according to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025. In 2018, the accreditation was extended for the calibration of flow direction sensors and the calibration of tilted sensors. Ammonit Wind Tunnel is a member of MEASNET and actively participates in the Anemometer Calibration Expert Group.
